Wallpaper is a great way to elevate your space and give it your unique, personal touch! It’s coming back into design with a vengeance and people are loving the results of our wallpaper designs, however, finding the right one can be daunting for some. Luckily, with the right tools, finding the perfect wallpaper can be a fun and easy process. With a few simple steps, you can unleash your imagination and find the wallpaper of your dreams with confidence.

Step 1 - Pick Your Space: Whether you are looking to have an accent wall or a fun powder room, wallpaper is meant to add pockets of visual interest in your space, but is not meant to be everywhere so be careful not to overuse a pattern. Consider placing your pattern in a dining area or entry space. As you flow within your home, adding wallpaper to your small space and transitioning to paint in your next room can peak interest but not overwhelm. If you have an empty wall but aren’t sure what to do with it, accent walls using wallpaper are a great way to break up the space and marry a color scheme. For added drama, you can even do a ceiling wallpaper moment in a dining room or nursery! Overall, opt for 2-3 rooms tops to add wallpaper. Our favorite spots are entries, pantries, and powder rooms.

Step 2 - Pick Your Subject Matter: Before you go crazy looking at all the endless possibilities of wallpaper, consider the scale of your space and how you want it to feel. Say you have a larger space, you may not want a small, busy pattern. Try something more spread out such as a landscape or subtle pattern/texture. If you are looking at small spaces such as a powder room or pantry, you can be bolder in your subject matter. There are plenty of options as well for neutral patterns and textures for those who want to take a subtle approach. In addition to the scale, consider the age and architecture of your home. For example, a modern craftsman or a tudor will have a historical feel such as Trustworth Wallpapers, who carry more traditional patterns. More modern homes can have more geometric patterns and so on.

Step 3 - Temporary or Permanent?

The beauty of wallpaper is that you can replace it whenever you want. Some wallpapers come in various types and stick styles so, for instance, if you want to use wallpaper but you are renting and want to be able to remove easily and without damage, consider a peel-and-stick wallpaper. These types are also great for kids’ rooms and nurseries so that the wallpaper can be changed as they grow! Permanent wallpaper will last much longer and is a great option for those who do not foresee changing it any time soon. It is more cost-effective than repainting a space every few years. If you do decide to go this route, consider a timeless wallpaper with neutral and/or monochromatic colors so that if you decide to repaint your home, you can pair the wallpaper with a wide variety of paint colors.
