New Website! | Welcome to H+H

Hello! I’m Courtney Hinton, owner of Hearth + Home Interiors. I’m a Yankee-born, West coast-transplant who now lives in a little 1920’s farmhouse in Asheville with my insanely wonderful man and three spoiled fur babies. Things that make me happy are: old houses, antiques, black paint, animals, vintage dresses, rock n’ roll, cooking, drinking wine and watching movies (especially period pieces).

Hearth + Home Interiors was founded on the idyllic concept of ‘home’ and what that means to us all.

Like most people, my earliest memories  began in my childhood home. I vividly remember the smell of freshly baked bread radiating from our tiny 1930's English Tudor kitchen, and the candle-lit dinners we’d have in our dining room, which was wrapped in a dreamy folk-colonial mural. My parents, both artists, decorated our home with original art and antiques and shopping at the flea markets was a popular weekend occurrence for us. A sense of place, aesthetic detail and my family are all what contributed to MY earliest sense of home.

As we each grow in this life, our needs and styles evolve, opening doors to new adventures.

When my husband, Nick, and I moved to Asheville from Los Angeles, we didn’t know what to expect. Luckily, our uncertainty was soon transformed into fulfillment. This little mountain town is heavenly and has shown us the beauty that comes from diving into the unexpected.

H+H is not your typical design firm. I’m not a fan of traditional design “rules” nor do I like to follow trends. I’m a self-taught, curious individual who comes from a long line of visual artists. My approach to design is similar to my approach to life: it’s all about the process. Most importantly, design is fun! I love houses. I love art. I love history. I love color. I love being inspired! All of it’s what drives me forward.

The art of story telling lives in us all. I believe the soul of an interior should reflect its dwellers. Our spaces should evoke emotion and reflect the little quirks we all have. I gravitate towards objects with their own past because of what they mean to the individual. Good design is patient and the best things in life are driven by intention.

Whether you’re looking to remodel, adorn a new space, or seeking collaboration of a budding concept - I’m here for ya! Thanks for reading my first blog post. I invite you to join me on my blogging journey. I talk a LOT so I wouldn’t be surprised if i start blogging a lot too!!

Xx Courtney
