Old homes! old hearts! Upon my soul forever
Their peace and gladness lie like tears and laughter.
— Madison Julius Cawein, Old Homes

Have you ever met an old soul?

Someone with a certain Je ne sais quoi ?

According to Urban Dictionary, an Old Soul is “someone who has a greater appreciation and understanding of things that might be dismissed by others their age. An old soul would have a different taste in things than the mainstream media. They are often wise beyond their age or appearance.”

I think if people can be defined as old souls then so can interiors.

To me, #oldsoulinteriors are spaces that celebrate the past while fabricating the future. Their style is so authentic that it simply can not be reproduced. These spaces carry a certain wisdom beyond their contemporaries yet embody a youthful spirit. They’re the kind of spaces you walk into and think “I’ve been here before, but I don’t know why”.

In case I’m getting too philosophical (this is, after all, a design blog) I’ve gathered up some designers & spaces I love who reflect the #oldsoulinteriors concept:
